Disney has revealed the first details of a new cruise ship that will focus, for the first time, on sailings in Japan.
The new cruise ship, Disney Imagination, is scheduled to set sail from Tokyo in spring 2029.
She will be operated by Disney Cruise Line Japan, a cruise business run by Oriental Land Co.
The company also operates the Tokyo Disney Resort under license from Disney.
Like other Disney cruise ships, the vessel will draw on the brand's characters and stories.
She will be part of the Wish class of ships and will feature Ariel from The Little Mermaid on the stern.
The ship will also feature Disney-themed bars and immersive dining and entertainment on board, with further details to be revealed later.
This will be the second Disney ship dedicated to Asia after the launch of Disney Adventure earlier this year.
Disney Adventure focuses on sailings around Singapore and features an Iron Man-themed rollercoaster and an Imagination Garden with a three-deck-tall storybook castle,
Natacha Rafalski, president of Disney Signature Experiences, said: “The announcement of the Disney Imagination marks a significant milestone in the continued expansion of Disney Cruise Line and in our long-standing relationship with Oriental Land Group.
“We are honoured to extend the magic of Disney cruising to fans in new markets and create opportunities for Japanese guests to experience a Disney vacation at sea.”
The other Wish class ships include Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny and Disney Believe, which is set to launch in Florida next year.
Earlier this week, Disney revealed early features of the new Disney Believe ship, with the December 2027 maiden sailing already sold out. An image of Tinkerbell will be on the bow, with silhouettes of other Neverland characters including Peter Pan, Wendy and Captain Hook. Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear and Woody will be on the stern.
For the first time on a Disney ship, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from Zootopia will star in a new family show, asking guests to help them solve their latest case.
The ship will also feature Oaken’s Table: A Frozen Family Feast, a new untold chapter in the Frozen story featuring beloved characters such as Oaken, Anna, and Kristoff.
Guests can also enjoy an Encanto theatre show, a Little Mermaid-themed piano bar called Sea Notes, and a Snow White-themed lounge called the Wishing Well.
