Andy Murray and his wife Kim are set to star in a series on the overhaul of their luxury Scottish hotel.

Our Scottish Hotel will take a behind-the-scenes look at the luxury property as renovations begin on a major new wing and two new restaurants.

The famous tennis family first opened the doors to Cromlix, a hotel in Kinbuck near Dunblane, in 2014.

Channel 4 filmed the three-part series for a year, following the couple and their team of 80 people through “the most ambitious chapter in the hotel’s history”.

According to the show’s synopsis, the Cromlix renovations are Kim and Andy’s “biggest financial gamble” since buying the hotel.

“When the hotel closes for five months to allow for the most transformational work to get underway, Kim and Andy return to discover whether a year of risk, upheaval and relentless work has delivered the hotel they imagined,” said Channel 4.

Kim Murray said: “The last couple of years have been really full of change at Cromlix with a huge building project and a totally new direction for fine dining and wellness, and I was really keen to document that as there were so many personal stories and interesting discoveries along the way.

“Andy and I haven’t worked on anything together before, so that was a fascinating process – and a learning curve! I’ve loved shaping this building and estate into what’s now become a really thriving and much-loved Scottish business. I hope people enjoy watching the show and meeting the team behind the hotel.”

The three-part series is due to air on Channel 4 in December.

The Independent travel writer Amelia Neath said after a stay at Cromlix earlier this year: “With just 20 rooms on the estate, Cromlix feels less like a hotel and more like a wealthy friend’s countryside manor. Thanks to the residential-style layout, which has been retained from the hotel’s past life as a laird’s private home, nothing about a stay here feels sterile.”
