Airbnb is piloting a private car transfer service that would transport holidaymakers from the airport to their rental property.
Over the past year, Airbnb has been expanding its brand to other travel services and experiences, such as bookable private chefs, spa treatments and guided tours.
Now, an Airbnb spokesperson confirmed to The Independent that it is testing out a new transportation service for its guests.
“We are regularly testing new product updates, categories and initiatives, in order to provide the best possible experience for our community,” they said.
“As part of that, we're piloting a scheduled private car transfer service in select cities.”
It is unclear which cities will see the launch of Airbnb’s pickup service first, or how far in advance it would need to be booked, but Airbnb said specific details will be released in due course.
The pilot comes after Airbnb launched a major expansion in May 2025, providing services across 10 categories.
Alongside chef-cooked meals and massages by certified therapists, guests can book personal training sessions, hair, make-up and nail appointments, and personalised photography sessions to capture memories from their trip.
Catering and prepared meals can also be booked if cooking is not on the agenda during your getaway.
These services have been launched across many destinations, with the goal of expanding into 260 cities.
Some experience and service hosts are renowned in their fields, including Michelin-starred chefs, award-winning photographers and elite celebrity trainers.
While the services can be used during a getaway, you don’t need to stay at an Airbnb to hire a trainer, book a massage or use any other services, as these can also be scheduled at your own home.
Airbnb experiences also include food tours, dining experiences, museum excursions, watersports and wildlife days out, and wellness sessions led by a local host.
Some experiences already launched include carving marble with a third-generation sculptor in Athens, running five kilometres with Olympian Federico Pellegrino in Milan, and family-friendly Harry Potter tours in London.
For those planning a staycation in the UK, Airbnb has also just launched a new feature already much-loved in the US.
The launch of “Reserve Now, Pay Later” will allow guests to book a stay without shelling out any cash; they can instead wait to settle the bill until close to the end of the cancellation period.
