36 mins: Digne swings a corner into the near post for Everton and Richarlison arrives to win the header. He makes his jump but can’t reach the ball allowing Man City to boot it away.

33 mins: City switch the play from the left wing to the right. Foden has possession and dinks it out to Walker who attempts to cross the ball into the middle of the box. Holgate comes across to pressure the City defender who then runs the ball out of play.

30 mins: Fernandinho plays well in defence and in attack. He draws the foul out of Richarlison and City have a free kick of their own on the inside left. Raheem Sterling takes the free kick, hoping to swing the ball round the wall and then dip before it reaches the goal. He does the first part well but the ball doesn’t drop and his effort goes over the crossbar.

27 mins: An Everton free kick seems to be in Gylfi Sigurdsson’s range but he runs over the dead ball and Lucas Digne chips it towards the far post where he wins a corner. The corner ball is curled in but Fernandinho wins the ball and City tidy up.

24 mins: Man City have had around 85% of possession but Everton seem to get some decent moments. The ball is flicked out to the left wing where Andre Gomes chases the ball down and whips a cross into the box first time. It’s a lovely ball that almost finds Calvert-Lewin but Aymeric Laporte jumps in front of the striker to work the ball clear.

21 mins: Everton get men forward in a rare attack. The cross comes in from the right side and Ben Godfrey heads it back into the middle frome the far post. An attempted clearance from City gives the ball back to Godfrey who knocks it towards Richarlison. The ball bounces high and the Everton striker attempts an overhead kick. He connects sweetly but the effort goes over the crossbar.

18 mins: Sterling makes a run inside from the left as Gundogan flicks the ball into his path. He dribbles it to the front of the box and hits a curling effort at goal but Joao Virginia gets in behind the ball to make an easy save.

15 mins: Phil Foden has been sharp. He looks really confident taking on Everton defenders one-on-one. He runs into the box from the right this time and wins a corner. Ilkay Gundogan whips the set piece into the middle of the box but Everton deal with it. Richarlison, I think, with the headed clearance.

12 mins: Calvert-Lewin is the most forward Everton player, waiting just inside of the halfway line as Man City probe Everton’s defences for an opening. The Toffees win the ball and Calvert-Lewin does brilliantly to hold it up long enough for Richarlison to run forward. He passes it out to his strike partner who carries it up the pitch. Lucas Digne gets free on the overlap and his cross into the penalty area gets blocked.

6 mins: Man City are dominating the opening stages forcing Everton to defend deep. A throw in up the pitch for the home side gives the a breather as Richarlison knocks the ball past Ruben Dias and gets brought down.
