Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced the birth of their second child, a daughter named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the arrival of their daughter, who was born on Friday 4 June, in an announcement Sunday 6 June.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the birth of their second child in a statement Sunday, where they also shared the meaning behind their daughter’s name.
“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet,” the statement reads. “Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”
According to the couple, they also plan to use the nickname “Lili” for their daughter.

The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to the couple’s daughter at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, on Friday morning.
The duke and duchess have been living in California since relocating to the US last year with their son Archie after announcing their decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family.

Lilibet was born weighing 7lbs 11oz at 11.40am on Friday morning, according to the couple.
Following the arrival of their newest child, the couple said both the newborn and Meghan are healthy and settling in at home.

On the couple’s Archewell website, where they announced the birth of their daughter, they also shared a statement describing the newborn as “more than we could have ever imagined”.
“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family,” the duke and duchess wrote.

With the arrival of their daughter, the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, have added an additional member to the royal family, and to the lengthy list of the Queen’s grandchildren.
Lilibet is the Queen’s 11th great-grandchild and is eighth in line to the throne.

While the couple has requested charitable donations instead of presents, they likley would have been allowed to accept more gifts for their new daughter than they were allowed when they had Archie as a result of their decision to step back from their roles as senior royals.

During the duke and duchess’s recent sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey, they spoke at length about the royal family’s decision not to bestow a royal title on their first child, Archie.
While it has not been confirmed, it seems unlikely that their daughter Lilibet will receive a title.
