Follow all the action as the third round of The Masters gets underway at Augusta.

Justin Rose surged into a spectacular four-shot lead on Thursday but saw that advantage cut down to just one yesterday, with the Englishman struggling to recapture his best form. It was still a round of great resilience, though, by the former world No 1, who finished with a flourish of birdies to end with an even par round of 72. He will begin in the day’s final group alongside debutant Will Zalatoris who, despite never having won on the PGA Tour, has been in brilliant form.

There is a stacked field of high-profile names in close pursuit in what promises to be a thrilling moving day. Justin Spieth, the 2015 champion, whose redemptive form reached a peak with a victory in Texas last week, is just two shots back and made no attempts to conceal his thoughts of another Green Jacket after an impressive 68 yesterday. Justin Thomas, the Players champion, is just one further behind after a sloppy three-putt on the 18th green cast a blemish on what had otherwise been a perfect round of 67. Meanwhile, the likes of Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau are still firmly in contention. That much cannot be said of Rory McIlroy or defending champion Dustin Johnson, though, with the pair both missing the cut. Follow all the action from round three below:

THE MASTERS 2021: SCHAUFFELE MOVES TO -5

Schauffele is playing ominously well for those at the top of the leaderboard. After a birdie at the 2nd, he makes another far trickier one, this time at the par-3 4th. He’s now at -5, just two back of the lead.

THE MASTERS 2021: NO NERVES FOR ROSE

After hitting just six drivers on the range yesterday, Justin Rose opted for a three wood off the first tee and skewed it straight into the trees. He takes the same approach today but there is no such mistake. It flies a little dangerously, flirting with the right fairway bunker, but just about stays out and he’ll have a great angle into the green.

THE MASTERS 2021: HOLE IN ONE FOR CONNERS!

Corey Conners has just made a hole in one at the 6th! The Canadian’s ball pitches inches in front of the bunker and rattles into the bottom of the hole at speed. He was already playing brilliantly and now sits at -5.

THE MASTERS 2021: SPIETH STARTS WITH A PAR

Jordan Spieth’s approach came up a little short on the 1st and it’s a comfortable two-putt par to start. He follows it up with a perfect drive down the par-5 2nd and will be targeting a birdie there. Over at the 1st tee, our leader, Justin Rose, will get his third round underway any second now.

THE MASTERS 2021: MICKELSON CLOSES WITH A 69

A wonderful round of golf by Phil Mickelson is finished in style with a typically brilliant flop out of the bunker. The spin is impeccable and he taps in for par. A 69 takes him to level par for the tournament.

THE MASTERS 2021: SCHAUFFELE MOVES TO -4

Xander Schauffele is the next player to make easy pickings of the par-5 2nd. A fairway wood flies over the back of the green from 266 yards and a tidy up and down takes him to four-under-par. Meanwhile, on the first tee, Jordan Spieth is underway. He blazes a driver straight down the middle of the fairway. He may be two shots back of Justin Rose, but the 2015 champion heads into the weekend as the favourite, and for good reason.

THE MASTERS 2021: CONNERS MAKE EARLY CHARGE

We have some movement towards the top of the leaderboard! Corey Conners is off to a flier with birdies at the par-5 2nd and short par-4 3rd. They have been a happy hunting ground for so many players this week. The Canadian, who finished in a tie for 10th last November, is now in a tie for sixth.

THE MASTERS 2021: LOWRY MOVES INTO RED

Shane Lowry has been showing some much-needed form in recent weeks and such a tricky course will always suit the eye of a creative shotmaker. The Open champion floats a brilliant tee-shot into the par-3 6th and rolls in an 11ft putt for birdie. He’s at -1 and inside the top 20 as we stand.

THE MASTERS 2021: SCHAUFFELE START WITH A PAR

Xander Schauffele started to show some form yesterday, making five birdies, and will be a player to keep an eye on. The world No 6 is four back of Justin Rose and starts with a par at the 1st.
