Five grey wolves have been released into Colorado's Rocky Mountains after a 2020 vote on reintroducing them into the wild.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife plan to release between 10 and 15 wolves into the area by mid-march 2024.

The wolves were originally captured in the US state of Oregon, before veterinarians and biologists evaluated them to see if they were fit enough to be relocated.

While conservationists have hailed the move, ranchers and some in rural communities have been sceptical - saying the wolves could put livestock, wildlife and pets at risk.
