This means those who have a National Insurance number which ends in digits 80 to 99 are likely to be affected.

Others may want to keep an eye out on their bank accounts, just in case.

However, the DWP has also issued another important update when it comes to payment changes which will affect state pensioners.

Its website reads: “If you’re due to be paid on Monday January 4, however, you will be paid on Thursday 31 December.”

The full new state pension sum currently stands at £175.20 per week, however, the sum is set to rise in 2021.

This is because of the triple lock mechanism, a tool implemented to ensure pensioners’ sums are protected in the future.

Each year, pensioners can expect payments to rise by the greater of earnings, growth in prices, or 2.5 percent.

This year, the 2.5 percent element of the mechanism has been triggered, meaning this is the increase which will be implemented.

From April 6, 2021, pensioners who are entitled to the full, new state pension will get £179.60 a week, up from £175.20 in 2020.

This is, of course, not as high as last year’s increase which was recorded at 3.9 percent.
