London’s iconic The Wolseley restaurant will soon take the international stage with the launch of The Wolseley Hotels group in the US.

The inaugural New York City hotel is set to open in early 2027, steps from Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan.

Inspired by The Wolseley restaurant on London’s Piccadilly, the hotel brand aims to inject “British elegance” into the world’s “great cities”.

Nods to the celebrated London institution will be seen in the personalised service, “vibrant” culinary programme and bespoke in-room amenities.

The flagship hotel will feature 76 guest rooms and suites, The Wolseley New York restaurant, an intimate cellar-level speakeasy bar and wellness and wellbeing centre committed to “holistic luxury”.

Its site at 130 West 44th Street, originally a clubhouse for The Lambs Club from 1905, has long been associated with Broadway’s creative community and New York’s “cultural elite”, said The Wolseley Hotels.

The Wolseley New York will mark the brand’s first hotel worldwide.

The inaugural property under The Wolseley Hotels brand is global hospitality owner Minor Hotels’ first in the US luxury hotel segment.

“Blending British sophistication with New York’s cultural energy and architectural pedigree, the property will usher in a new chapter of refined hospitality in one of the world’s most dynamic cities,” said the hotel group.

According to The Wolseley Hotels, future properties are planned in cities across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East.

Dillip Rajakarier, group CEO of Minor International, said: “The launch of The Wolseley Hotels marks an exciting new chapter for Minor Hotels. Inspired by the enduring success of The Wolseley in London, our vision is to create hotels anchored in culinary excellence, architectural character, and a genuine sense of occasion. The Wolseley Hotel New York establishes our first flagship and sets the standard for the brand’s global expansion.”
