    Fernandez-Pardo on signing for Newcastle

Newcastle’s latest signing, Matias Fernandez-Pardo spoke about signing for the club.

He said: “I’m really, really happy to be here and very proud to be at such a big club.

“I spoke to the head coach and he really showed how much he wanted me to be here. In terms of my own career progression, it made complete sense to come so I didn't hesitate at all.

“I know the club, I know about the stadium, I know it's a fantastic atmosphere. I've followed the team. What I've seen is a team that's very ambitious, wants to attack, get forward, really chase teams and go after them, and that's really something I want to take part in as well.

“I'm still young, I'm still hungry, and that's why I'm here, and I want to make that progress with Newcastle. I can't wait to start the wonderful adventure here."

Fulham giving medicals to two midfielders and in talks for a defender

A potentially busy transfer deadline day for Fulham, who currently have zero points from their first two Premier League games and may be getting a little nervous.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s side are giving medicals to two midfielders: Manuel Angel from Real Madrid and Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt, with Angel set to sign for £21.5m and Larsson costing just over £4m.

Sky Sports are now reporting that the Cottagers are also in talks to sign Elche centre-back David Affengruber.

The 25-year-old is an Austria international and Fulham have been keen for a fast centre-back to suit Arbeloa's style of play, while they are also reportedly eyeing a right-back.

Millwall star Femi Azeez looks set to be a Brighton player by the end of the day, with talkSPORT reporting that a deal has been agreed between the clubs.
