Cunard has unveiled details of a landmark 500th transatlantic cruise for Queen Mary 2.

The Southampton-to-New York route is a bucket-list cruise for many guests, and Cunard has offered it throughout its 186-year history, including over the past two decades aboard Queen Mary 2.

The 500th transatlantic sailing will start on 20 April 2029, departing from New York for a 21-night roundtrip.

Guests can also join in Europe, with options including 11 nights from Hamburg on 30 April or nine nights from Southampton on 2 May.

Additionally, passengers can embark on the transatlantic voyage from Liverpool for the first time in 15 years on 4 May.

Prices start from £2,924 per person for the full round-trip from New York, £1,709 for a one-way crossing from Southampton, and £1,349 from Liverpool to the US.

The route is part of a new programme of 93 Cunard voyages sailing between October 2028 and May 2029.

Other highlights include a 115-night world cruise aboard Queen Elizabeth, departing Southampton on 23 January 2029, from £13,499 per person.

There is also an 86-night roundtrip sailing from Southampton aboard Queen Anne to explore South America.

Departing 9 January with fares from £8,549 per person, the voyage combines Caribbean ports with an immersive exploration of Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Peru.

This will be among the final itineraries aboard Queen Anne under the Cunard brand.

The ship will transfer to P&O Cruises in May 2029 as part of a fleet overhaul by parent company Carnival, and will be revamped and rebranded.

Cunard World Club members will get exclusive early access to the new 2028 and 2029 routes from 2pm on 3 November 2026, with general sale opening 24 hours later.

Guests booking before midnight on 30 December 2026 can also get a 10 per cent discount for early reservations.

Paul Ludlow, president of Cunard, said: “Some journeys become stories you’ll tell for years to come, and this new programme brings together some of the most memorable experiences we have ever offered.

“The Queen Mary landmark 500th transatlantic crossing will be one of the most significant moments in Cunard’s modern history, reconnecting Liverpool with our iconic transatlantic service.

“Alongside Queen Elizabeth’s world voyage and the opportunity to experience Rio Carnival with Queen Anne, these voyages showcase the breadth and richness of the Cunard experience.

“Whether guests are looking for a short European escape, an iconic ocean crossing or the adventure of a lifetime, there is a voyage designed to inspire.”
