RB Leipzig are taking on Atletico Madrid tonight at the José Alvalade Stadium in a one-off quarter-final tie bidding for the right to play in PSG next week’s Champions League semi-finals.

Leipzig are without their star forward this season, Timo Werner, following his sale to Chelsea, but have a coach in Julian Nagelsmann who has been waiting for an evening like this to announce himself on the big stage.

To do it they will have to beat one of the tournament favourites who have their own inspirational coach in Diego Simeone and a tough striker pin down in Diego Costa. Follow all the latest below:

    HALF TIME

    2020-08-13T19:51:17.430Z

Half time - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Good half on the ball for the German side, certainly in the middle third of the pitch, but too often the cross or pass down the channel just before a shot can be teed up has been lacking.

Gulacsi has saved one from Carrasco, Oblak has made an easy catch from Upamecano.

    2020-08-13T19:49:50.793Z

    45+3' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Upamecano leaps to meet an Nkunku corner and heads down at goal - but it's central and straight at Oblak. Decent chance.

At the other end Klostermann makes a marginal foul on Carrasco and the Atleti players react as if he two-footed the winger with a 10-yard lunge.

    Four minutes added on.

    44' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Leipzig pressing in the closing stages. Nkunku, Kampl and Sabitzer look the best bet to open up Atletico with their quick one-touch passing, but they miss a bit of a penalty box presence at the moment with only Poulsen at centre-forward who, for all the strengths he brings to the team, is not renowned as a clinical predator.

    2020-08-13T19:41:44.086Z

    40' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Upamecano absolutely clatters Llorente with a perfect tackle. Ball won, man sent flying. The Leipzig defender has been immaculate so far.

Bit of a lack of scoring chances in this half though, which is partly his fault for being rather good.

    2020-08-13T19:40:03.173Z

    38' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Savic is still being taped up and bandaged back together. Believe the official rule under Simeone is that if you can still walk, you can still play.

Halstenberg has similarly been tidied up and both should be back on the pitch.

    34' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Another clash, this one more severe. Savic and Halstenberg both go for the ball and there's a huge coming together in the air. Head injuries to both by the looks of it.

    2020-08-13T19:34:01.830Z

    30' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

A few challenges flying in now. Koke and Saul are both pulled up, then Olmo is very marginally late on Lodi. Not much contact in the latter, but the ref has words with a couple of them.

    2020-08-13T19:29:21.846Z

    26' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Saul blasts one well off target after another good run from Carrasco. Angelino and Nkunku link well at the other end, but again the cross from the Spaniard isn't the best and Oblak easily catches.

    22' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Carrasco the biggest threat in this first quarter for Atletico, with his pace and dribbling troubling Leipzig down their right, Atleti's left.

Leipzig keep getting the wing-backs in, but the final pass again has been loose from Angelino and Laimar.

    2020-08-13T19:19:14.036Z

    18' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Some fantastic build-up play from Leipzig tonight, but the end pass has been lacking so far. Kampl smashes one over the bar now, but he and Sabitzer, plus Upamecano from deep, have been excellent at evading challenges and finding space to pass into.

    2020-08-13T19:15:53.590Z

    14' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Carrasco and Renan Lodi link brilliantly down the left and the Belgian winger cracks in a shot at the near post - Gulacsi is across to palm it wide for a corner. Good stop, lovely build-up.

From the corner, Saul wants a penalty as he reaches the ball before the goalkeeper, but the referee isn't interested.

    10' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Costa does flick one goalwards now after Lodi's free-kick finds him, but Gulacsi makes a comfortable save on the line.

    2020-08-13T19:10:56.286Z

    7' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Atletico just earning some first spells of possession now. They're happy to go direct, towards Diego Costa, and it already looks him him against Upamecano might be the clash to watch during the 90.

    2020-08-13T19:05:45.606Z

    3' - Leipzig 0-0 Atletico

Leipzig showing their intent to attack straight from kick-off. An early corner causes Atleti problems and Halstenberg rockets a volley over the bar.

    KICK OFF

    2020-08-13T19:01:49.910Z

    We are underway!

    2020-08-13T19:01:41.190Z

We are just about ready for kick-off. Atletico Madrid have not lost a Champions League knockout tie against a side which doesn't have Cristiano Ronaldo in it while Diego Simeone has been in charge.

A little over five minutes to go before kick-off! Who will win tonight and go on to face PSG?

    2020-08-13T18:48:37.973Z

Tough to pick the biggest star on show tonight - both these sides are built as real units, everyone servicing the team.

Christopher Nkunku has been brilliant for Leipzig this season though, while Dayot Upamecano is a defender admired by half of Europe's hugest teams.

For Atleti, Saul is perhaps the top individual player on show, with Felix on the bench.

But individualism isn't what these sides two are about - and the performances tonight will surely reflect that.

    2020-08-13T18:41:43.573Z

Marcel Sabitzer, Emil Forsberg and Timo Werner all have four goals in the Champions League this season for Leipzig - only the former is in the lineup tonight, of course, with Werner already having departed for Chelsea.

Atletico's top scorer in the competition is also not starting: Alvaro Morata has three. Llorente, with two, is the highest scorer who does start for them, with Joao Felix also sub.

    Match preview

    Team news

RB Leipzig will be without Timo Werner, of course, after he completed his move to Chelsea. Emil Forsberg should be fit after tonsillitis.

Atletico could be without Thomas Partey in midfield, while Felipe won’t be fully match fit and thus probably won’t start at centre-back.

    Predicted line-ups

Leipzig: Gulacsi; Klostermann, Upamecano, Halstenberg; Mukiele, Sabitzer, Kampl, Angelino; Nkunku, Olmo; Schick.

Atletico: Oblak; Arias, Savic, Gimenez, Renan Lodi; Correa, Saul, Koke, Carrasco; Llorente; Costa.

    Odds

    Leipzig — 12/5

    Draw — 23/10

    Atletico — 11/8
