In England, access to the free bus pass is aligned with the state pension, which is slowly increasing and is dependent on the year someone was born in. Those interested in putting forward their claim for a free bus pass can do so when they reach the female state pension age of 60.
Despite this, most people apply when they reach the state pension age of 66, however this threshold is set to rise even further in years to come.
However, with the rules around state pension age set to change in England, Britons may receive it later than they expected.
For those in Scotland, Northern Ireland, or Wales it will still be possible to apply from the age of 60.
