All you need to know as State Pension rising by up to £489:
- More than 13 million pensioners are expected to see their State Pension rise by 3.9% from April 2027 under the Triple Lock.
- The increase is based on earnings growth, which outstripped the 3.5% inflation rate and the policy's 2.5% minimum.
- As confirmed in the Chancellor's Budget last week, the full New State Pension would rise from £241.30 to around £250.70 a week, taking the annual amount above £13,000 for the first time. The full Basic State Pension will also increase to approximately £192.10 a week.
- This means those on a full New State Pension will be £489 better off a year, while those on a full Basic State Pension will receive £375 more annually.
- It is also worth bearing in mind that the amount an individual receives is determined by their National Insurance contribution record - meaning not everybody will qualify for the full rate.
