McDonald’s has revealed that another 500 restaurants will be opening for delivery from next week with plans to start serving breakfast soon.

Last month, the fast food giant announced that by Thursday 4 June, more than 1,000 of its chains across the UK and Ireland would be opened either for drive-through or delivery.

“This means every Drive Thru in the UK and Ireland will reopen between Tuesday and Thursday next week and we will start to expand the availability of McDelivery too,” a spokesperson for the company said.

On Tuesday 2 June, McDonald’s reopened 168 restaurants in the UK and Ireland for drive-through, in addition to a further 22 restaurants solely for delivery.

A day later, 497 more drive-through restaurants were reopened, with 43 more restaurants offering a delivery service for customers.

From Thursday 4 June, an additional 261 drive-through restaurants were reopened, with eight more being reopened for delivery.

Now, the chain has announced that another 500 will open from next week.

McDonald’s has outlined the safeguarding measures members of staff will be taking, including wearing face coverings and gloves.

Furthermore, Perspex screens have been put up in restaurants and social distancing measures will be observed during business.

The fast food chain has also said it will be offering a limited menu to customers, in addition to a cap of £25 on drive-through orders.
