Tottenham have spent £300m on new recruits this summer but Roberto De Zerbi believes Spurs could yet sign one more player.

The Independent has reported that Tottenham wanted to sign three attacking players before the deadline, with Spurs adding Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City.

They have also been offered Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray, but his enormous asking price, of around €150m, makes it extremely unlikely, unless there are further sales before the deadline.

"I didn't expect a transfer window like we have done," De Zerbi said. “I think we can do one player more in one specific position.

“Yesterday, we went to dinner with the owners, Johan (Lange, sporting director) and Vinai (Venkatesham, chief executive) and we spoke about this.

"All of us are on the same page and [have] a very good connection."

Unai Emery admitted he shed a tear as he received an apology from Ollie Watkins ahead of the Aston Villa striker’s move to Saudi Arabia.

Watkins is set to join Al Hilal in a £50m deal, with Emery’s side agreeing to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea as his replacement.

The England international missed Aston Villa’s 4-0 defeat to Brighton on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Emery was left seething by Watkins’ absence and said he could “only answer by silence”, but revealed an emotional farewell on Thursday.

“I can tell you now Watkins’ commitment and behaviour was fantastic always,” Emery said on Friday.

“Last week, we didn’t get a deal to finish playing the match against Brighton but he told us after the match that he was sorry and he told us he made a mistake and was wrong.

“We accepted it and the players did as well because he always had very good behaviour with me. For me, he’s a fantastic guy, even more so than as a player.

“I told him ‘bye’ with a huge hug and a small cry. But all the best with him in Saudi and with Nicolas Jackson replacing him.”

Xabi Alonso said he wants players that “feel a desire to play” for Chelsea after Enzo Fernandez was left out of the squad for Thursday’s win over Luton.

Chelsea are open to Fernandez leaving before the transfer deadline, but Manchester City would need to pay more than the £120m asking price the Blues set earlier in the window.

Alonso has dismissed reports in Argentina that Fernandez asked not to be involved in the game against Luton and speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game at home to Brighton, Alonso said: “We need the players that are in the best situation to play.

“We need to take everything into consideration, players that are in good moments, players that are not feeling that energy to play. For me it’s very important that they feel that desire to play and to have good preparation.

“We talked, and we decided that (for Luton) it was better not to be part of the squad. He’s a top player, there’s no doubt about that.”

According to TalkSport, the Gunners are interested in signing the 20-year-old attacker while they also pursue a move for Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid’s stance is that Endrick is not for sale. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, and new boss Jose Mourinho wants him to stay.

He's a player I like a lot and who has had many contacts from clubs that wanted him on loan or transferred,” Mourinho said.

“I didn't want to loan or sell him because I like the player, and I'd like to work with this young player who has important talents.”

Multiple sources are now saying that Chelsea are looking at Monaco's Lamine Camara, in a potential £55m deal, if they sell Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City.

Chelsea are looking at alternatives if Fernandez is sold, with Alex Scott seen as unrealistic this summer due to Bournemouth remaining resolute in their stance that he is not for sale.

Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga or Roma’s Manu Kone are seen as potential options, but a move for the 22-year-old Camara is seen as possible should Chelsea need to add to their midfield options.

Arsenal’s stance on Julian Alvarez is that if they don’t sign him, they will be relatively relaxed. There is some internal surprise they let Gabriel Martinelli go before securing an alternative in that area, although some sources believe it could see Arsenal move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford on a temporary deal. It’s just as possible they keep the money and wait.

Senegal international El Hadji Malick Diouf has joined Brentford from West Ham.

The 21-year-old defender has signed a five-year deal at the Gtech Community Stadium with the option of another season.

“He’s a player that fits our ideal age profile, with lots of room to still develop,” said Bees boss Keith Andrews.

“He had a really good year at West Ham in his first season in English football, and some of the qualities and attributes he has as a full-back really add to an already impressive part of our team.”

Chelsea want a higher price than £120m for Enzo Fernandez amid Manchester City’s ongoing interest in the midfielder.

Chelsea had long been open to business for a £120m fee for the Argentina international in what was already a complicated saga, but it is understood that no longer applies, partly due to how summer market valuations have risen.

One of the higher prices was the £116m fee City themselves paid to Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson this summer, and it now appears they would have to greatly increase on that club record to secure Fernandez.

Chelsea would also want to make sure they are able to secure a replacement. There remains a great deal of sensitivity and tension around the Fernandez situation, particularly with how former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca sees him as a key signing for his new club at City.

Fernandez was not in Chelsea’s squad to face Luton Town in the Carabao Cup last night, despite manager Xabi Alonso saying the previous day that he expected the midfielder to be involved.

Liverpool have turned their interest to Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr after Brighton rejected two bids for Yankuba Minteh, with Seagulls manager Fabian Hurzeler insisting that Minteh’s future remains on the south coast.

Brighton knocked backed bids of £50m and £60m for Minteh and Hurzeler said: "He is a player for Brighton and at the moment there is nothing else to say. I admire from him that when this window is closed that he is fully committed to this club.

"Of course there are always dreams of players and there are some wishes for players but in the end we always need to figure what is best for the club and therefore we had an exchange with him, at the moment he’s definitely a Brighton player, I can’t say anything more so let’s see what happens.”

Diego Simeone believes Julian Alvarez still has a future at Atletico Madrid, despite a breakdown in relations at the club after pushing to join Barcelona. Atletico will refuse to sell Alvarez to Barcelona.
