If you weren’t already aware that the first ever Minecraft world is coming to Chessington next year, there’s now even more reason to get excited. Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced that the world’s first Minecraft hotel will also open at the theme park in 2027. After a day spent exploring the park, fans will be able to extend their Overworld adventure by staying in one of nearly 70 themed bedrooms.
Providing a glimpse of what to expect, Merlin’s creative producer, Daisy Mercedes, said: “Not only will fans be able to experience the game brought to life, but they’ll also be able to sleep inside it, ensuring they respawn exactly where they want to be.” Here’s what else we know about the new Minecraft hotel so far.
- Experience real-life Minecraft environments, including the Overworld, Nether and caves
- 20 premium and 49 standard Minecraft-themed bedrooms
- Immersive restaurant
- Woodland mansion-inspired potion bar
As with the Minecraft theme park, we are yet to receive an official opening date for the hotel. As soon as an estimated open date is revealed, I’ll be sure to update this page or you can check the Minecraft page on the Chessington site.

Earlier this year, ‘Minecrafters’ were thrilled to hear the announcement of the first-of its-kind theme park, dedicated to the popular game. In the previous announcement, we received loose details about the attraction and its rides, which we understand to include a block-building area for younger fans, interactive activities and themed dining, but we now know Minecraft world’s hero-attraction will be the Escape the Nether rollercoaster.
Guests can enjoy a high-speed ride that explores the dark mines in an indoor area, before a dramatic exit out of the Nether portal into the Overworld. The rollercoaster will bring plenty of suspense, with unexpected turns round each corner.
“We have thought about everything from the scale of the blocks to how mobs and biomes come to life in the real world. Our goal is to create an experience that feels authentically Minecraft and gives guests the chance to experience the game in an entirely new way,” explains Filip Keatley Thoms, Creative Lead for Minecraft Parks and Experiences at Mojang Studios.
With that in mind, we can expect plenty of attention to detail, with fans set to feel fully immersed in the game.
